Spatial Information Research Institute (SIRI, President Chang-hak Choi) of LX KCSC announced a project winning
of ‘Current Status Survey on Korean Tombs in Sakhalin, 2014’, on May 7.
The project is for protection of rights of Korean and their descendant who had forced mobilization to Sakhalin
under Japanese Imperialism. In this project, the number of Korean tombs and location, and nearby Korean
habitations history will be surveyed, for those who could not come back to hometown until the end of their life.

The project is a consecutive work followed by ‘Total Inspection of Public Burial Grounds in Sakhalin, 2012’ of SIRI,
and SIRI will progress it based on plentiful overseas experience with latest technology. President Choi put
meaning of the project as a role of public service of KCSC in historical issue as well as business expansion into
Russia.
